I recently fell into a rabbit hole on the internet, and it quickly became one of my favorite things! Over the last month, I have been buying and selling on Poshmark, and I love it!
How It Works
If you’ve ever used Ebay before you will catch on here very quickly. It is the same concept of buying and selling new and used items. The easiest way to do this with Poshmark is to download the app to your phone. Once you have it installed, you can simply click on sell, add as many pictures as you’d like, fill in some blanks with provided options and add your own description. Once you set your price you’re done. Easy as can be!
Then, you share your listing with your followers, an ongoing party, or a specific individual. Now, here’s the part I like. As a buyer, you also have options. You can buy it now at the price the seller has listed it for plus $6.49 shipping. You can also add it to a bundle if that seller has multiple items you would like to purchase, and only pay the shipping price once. Most sellers also offer a discount for buying multiple items like 15% off three or more items, as an example. You can also make an offer to the seller on individual or bundle items. Sellers can accept, decline or counter your offers over the next 24 hours. As a seller, you also have the option to privately offer people a lower price with a discount on shipping to entice them to purchase an item they have marked as “Like” from your closet. As a seller that does change your earnings because you have to make up that difference, but often it gets you the sale so I still take the cut.
Now, comes my favorite thing about Postmark. When you make a sale, Poshmark emails you a shipping label. You simply print it off, attach it to your package and drop it in your mailbox!! No trips to the post office!! That is huge for me. I can never make it to the post office during their window hours so it’s next to impossible for me to mail packages. Poshmark has eliminated the hassle for me. I just put it in my mailbox, and our amazing mail lady takes it away! As soon as she scans the package at pickup it creates a tracking number for the buyer and seller to follow. It honestly does not get easier than that for me.
Show Me the Money
So now that you have a closet full of great new and used items for sale, and you’re shipping it out everyday, how do you get your money? Poshmark makes that really simple too. You can select a check mailed to you, a deposit into your bank account, or leave it as a credit on your account and use it for shopping. The last option is what I have been doing. I have gotten some really great items, and it’s like I’m shopping for free (almost).
Poshmark does take a small fee out for selling the item and shipping. It’s a few dollars on each item depending on how much you sold it for. I can’t seem to find the fees description anywhere on their website, but it isn’t any more than I’d be paying at the post office to ship items myself.
So far, in the last month, I have made over $200 by selling clothes, jewelry and makeup. Not too bad!
Is It Too Good To Be True?
Nope, not at all. I haven’t been disappointed at all. I have purchased jeans and shoes for myself and multiple items for my kids. Everything has been delivered to me as described and in great condition.
For example, my youngest daughter is obsessed with Under Armour clothes right now. We all know how expensive that can be, and with back to school shopping right around the corner, and two girls to shop for, I was looking at clearing out my shopping fund pretty quickly. Poshmark offers a huge selection of Under Armour, and any other brand you can think of, at great prices.
This is a $75 outfit according to the tags, I paid $26.49. I’m saving this one for a Christmas gift.
These BearPaw Boots are $55 new. I paid that price last year for my oldest daughter, and she lived in them until I had to take them away when it got too hot to wear them. This year, though, is different. I paid $33.49 for them shipped. Not too shabby of a deal right?
This set of Under Armour includes a hat, mittens and leg warmers. These items retail for $65 all together. I paid $19.49!! That’s a savings of $45.51! I can buy a lot of other stuff for $45.
I’ve bought used items on here as well, and I haven’t been disappointed in the quality. For example, a pair of Sperry shoes that retail for $60 for $27 and they look brand new. That’s a great way for me to get items I’ve been wanting for myself, but some how always seem to spend the money on my kids instead. No buyers remorse when the prices are this low.
Poshmark is definitely a part of my back to school and Christmas shopping now. It can be a great way to save money on new purchases. It’s also a great way to make some money after you clean out the closet. I would caution you though, not every single listing is a great deal. Remember to factor in the shipping costs. Sometimes it’s not saving you much at all. As always, I recommend shopping around and knowing the prices before you purchase.
If you want to join in the savings fun, you can create an account in less than two minutes. Use the invite code STACEY_JOHNSON and you will automatically get $5 in credit to spend on your first purchase. I also get $5 after you make that first purchase, so I’d be really grateful if you let me invite you to join in the fun.
Be sure to follow my closet on there too! Sharing is caring so leave me a comment and I’ll follow you back, and I’ll share your listings with my followers too!
I hope you find a lot of great items on Poshmark that work for you and your family.
