Father’s Day is almost here!
Dads are pretty important people. Sadly, it seems they don’t get as much credit as they deserve. That was pretty evident on my book search this time. Books for Mother’s Day definitely had a bigger selection and were easier to find.
Don’t worry though, I still found some good ones that any Dad would be happy to read for story time with their little ones. The first three selections won’t come as much of a surprise.
Our Library Picks
Berenstain Bears: We Love Our Dad – Jan & Mike Berenstain
You can always count on the Bear family to have a book for the topic at hand, and Father’s Day was no exception. In this one the cubs decide to spoil Papa Bear on Father’s Day. He is, after all, the best Papa Bear around!
The Night Before Father’s Day – Natasha Wing
Natasha Wing has quickly become one of my go to authors for any subject too. Her books are so fun to read aloud with the familiar rhyming pattern of the Christmas classic. The illustrations are adorable as well. This book is a great example to teach kids that doing something for someone is just as great as a store-bought gift, sometimes even better!
Just Me and My Dad – Mercer Mayer
The Little Critters family always seems to make my list as well! In this adorable story, Little Critter describes a camping trip with Dad. Camping can be such a great way to spend quality time together, unplug and just reconnect with each other. I personally have a lot of great memories of my dad from camping.
You can’t forget Grandpa on Father’s Day so grab a copy of Just Grandpa and Me to share with him.
I Love My Dad – Jennifer Lilberts
A dad with a little girl will always have a princess in his life. This Step into Reading story is the perfect one for Dad to share with his little princess on Father’s Day. Your favorite Disney princesses share special bonds with their dads and celebrate them on Father’s Day too.
Guess How Much I Love You – Sam McBratney
This sweet story is great for bedtime snuggles. I feel like this book has been around for generations as it just rings so true and from the heart. Have Little Nut Brown Hare help you tell Dad just how much you love him!
Wherever you Are: My Love Will Follow You – Nancy Tillman
Nancy Tillman wrote such a sweet story to share with your children. This is a story all about love being the greatest gift and never going away. The illustrations in this book are gorgeous too. On the Night You Were Born is another great one to share with your child from Nancy Tillman.
However you spend your Father’s Day, I hope you make some memories and cherish your time together. I can’t personally spend Father’s Day with my Dad anymore, but I celebrate him in my heart everyday, but I cherish the time I can spend with my father-in-law and watching my husband be the best daddy to our girls.
Happy Father’s Day!
